Too much drama, not getting paid enough

Had a few days of mama drama and borrowed drama.

Mom called me from the nursing home upset because she had only two changes of clothes for the last 2 weeks and she had arranged with the facility to get a ride some place to buy clothes.... who was going to drive her and how she was getting money, she wasn't clear about.

The clothes thing was news to me. When she first moved in there, Aunt Lucia and Mom had said the suitcase of clothes we packed for her made it with her. And when I talked to her last weekend Mom said she had a week's worth of clothes and it was time to get them washed by the laundry services there. So I was like WTF is going on with the clothes?

I called the nursing home social worker and asked her to follow up (after she dealt with the flood crisis at the facility) and she said sometimes unmarked clothes get stacked in the laundry unclaimed. Also, there is donation clothing mom could use. Called the hospice social worker and left a message since it was her day off. Called Aunt Lucia to find out the scoop from her since I can't always trust what om says.

In the end, Aunt Lucia says she and Arminda unpacked all the clothes from the suitcase and mom was marking them when Aunt Lucia left. She still has the boxes of mom's clothes that wouldn't fit in the home. Aunt Lucia plans on going thru the boxes this weekend and dropping by more clothes she knows mom will wearing.

After all this, the insurance guy calls me because mom flipped out when a nurse from the insurance came to draw blood. Mom had life insurance but when she lost her wallet and changed her account number, the autowithrawal was no good and they canceled her funerary insurance after sending 3 letters she didn't open. I am so not thinking about what it means if she can't get reinstated. Aunt Lucia made the appointment last week and told mom but of course mom didn't remember. When I talked to mom about it she was nonchalant, not 'ballistic.'

A second conversation with Aunt Lucia and she told me that mom woke up very disoriented this morning and confused. The nursing home workers were trying to get her settled down when the insurance person arrived.  So at least I now know it is not always that mom was forgetting to take her meds. It's just the progression of the dementia and it will get worse and worse. She has good days and bad days. At least now with people watching her 24/7 those changes can be tracked. Before mom always told me she was fine, feeling good, no worries. Now her nurses and social worker can give me a more complete story.

Meanwhile the volunteer council I am on is coming up to new elections and a whole bunch of personal crap. I get to deal with that in a meeting today. But I will no longer be on the council after today. YEAH! I will still go to events and volunteer for the fairs and stuff, but no more DRAMA.

What pisses me off is for the last year, most members haven't even shown their faces at events let alone meetings. Now feelings are hurt, we are going to have a full house. WTF?

OK, better not rant until after everything goes down.

"That's my stapler. I want me stapler back please."
